Newsletter 8/8/2011

Dear Barbarians:

It cannot go by without accepting the fact that the 2010-2011 season proved to be one of our most disappointing in recent memory. Needless to say we do not wish to ever repeat the type of behavior that is considered totally unappreciated and unnecessary for this organization to suffer through in what amounts to pettiness or the lack of common courtesy. We do not spend our time here back-biting or in idle talk. Too many members are attempting to bring the idle chatter and misguided mannerisms that are so prevalent on the outdoor scene, where very few recognize how to compete on the field of play, so the crabs will continually pull down all those who are moving onward, out of the barrel.

Sensationalism has no place in as sober an organization as what we have proven ourselves to be over the past 15 or so years. Your effort on our behalf is always greatly appreciated and we attempt to reciprocate but we have no way of dealing with those whose only effort is an attempt to maneuver what we layout as how we plan to proceed. While we tolerate many of you in hope that you may see what we see, we are always vigilant in what others say or do but we do not concern ourselves with the worry that many of you do or the way in which you do it. Instead, we are always in search of those of like-mindedness who have shown a willingness to sacrifice for the good of the club and the sake of the team, and we move forward altruistically even as they wear our patience thin.

We can no better change the past than we can relive it. The best part of much of what has gone on is that it is over. If we do not learn by what we have done in error, we are somewhat destined to repeat it and it would be our choice. I choose instead to rectify my mistakes as we move forward in hope that many of you will too. If you do not, we are ever optimistic and vigilant but we have always said we will move on, with or without you; and we do.

Most of you are aware that over the past few years we have made it a point to acknowledge players for their positive attitude and effort while contributing to the Barbarian FC. In many ways this is also recognition to their families for very few are ever able to accomplish anything on their own. Unfortunately I did not make these acknowledgments at the beginning last year so those we will never know but at this time I would like to make certain we do so for the 2010-2011 season.

It is our hope that you will be as impartial as we have been and give each of these so named players the recognition they deserve for the job they have done by being acknowledged for their attitude and effort in the 2010-2011 season. We look forward to the contribution you will make in the upcoming season and for years to come!

As usual, I will see you on the pitch!
